Are you listening?

ReConnecting Faith . . .

1 Samuel 3:10 says,

“The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

ear:listening

Do you remember the story of Samuel being called by God?

Three times the Lord called Samuel. Each time he went to Eli to see what he wanted. Eli told him that he did not call for him, so Samuel went back to lie in his bed. The third time Eli realized the Lord was calling the boy. He told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’

Now I’ve never heard the audible voice of God, but my heart has been nudged to do something that would honor Him. In those moments, I know God is speaking to me.

Have you ever heard someone say to you, “How did you know I needed a friend?” or “That is exactly what I needed to hear today.”

We can answer God’s call. Like Samuel, we can say, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
