Summer Fun!

Sorry I haven’t been blogging much. What can I say? I’ve been distracted. There are too many things pulling me away—namely, SUMMER!

I love this time of year. Do you?

I sleep in till 8 a.m. and go to bed at midnight. During the day, my family has been working on house projects (yes, we’re going to do another remodel, more to come later . . .) and we eat dinner on the back patio. At nine, we sit on the deck and watch the sun turn the sky crimson. (To me, there’s nothing better then daylight savings time!) And while we sleep, the windows are open to let in the cool night breeze.

Don’t get me started about summer food. Chicken, ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill. Yum. My husband loves to BBQ! Oh, and don’t forget the fruit during the summer. It’s amazing. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and kiwi’s, oh my!

And with the kids and teacher-husband home, we’ve had our share of playing Balderdash, Head’s Up!, and Uno, especially when we vacationed in Tahoe. Here’s a photo of our four kiddos at Emerald Bay.

I shared with many of you on Facebook that I took steps to conquer my fear of river rafting. My family rented rafts to float along the Truckee River. (Click on the link to get a taste.) If you go to Tahoe City this summer, you’ve got to try this! So fun.

Yes, I’ve continued to write. I’m working on another contemporary novel set in LaSelva Beach, a small beach community here in central California. To keep me accountable, I exchange chapters with my friend Sarah Sundin. Have you read her novels set during WWII? You should!

What’s next? Doug and I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, as well as our teen girl’s 18th birthday on the Friday. We have lots to celebrate at the Kyle house. God is good!

What have you been doing this summer?
